Are you familiar with the resurrection fern? It grows all over the live oak trees and is endemic to the southeast. Who knew that this little plant prevents trans epidermal water loss, treats dry skin and reduces the appearance of wrinkles! It is a desiccation tolerant plant which gives it the ability to survive without water! It may look dead, but the minute water hits it, it returns to a lush green state. How does it do that? It is loaded with humectants, compounds that draw in water and hold on to water. There is much research in the skin care industry on the power of desiccation tolerate plants for skin health!
I've infused jojoba oil with the fern, added in a little castor oil, ylang ylang and frankinsence essential oils for a lightly scented super moisturizing and healing formula.
Frankinsence contains active compounds, like boswellic acid that provide antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, and astringent properties that reduce signs of aging, fade scars, calm irritation, and promote skin health by boosting cell regeneration and collagen production. It helps to tone, tighten, and hydrate the skin, contributing to a more youthful and even complexion.
Ylang Ylang oil benefits the skin by regulating oil production, acting as an antioxidant to reduce wrinkles, and possessing anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial properties that help treat acne and soothe irritation. It works for both dry and oily skin types, promotes healing, and can reduce the appearance of signs of aging
I apply this heavenly blend in the morning before putting on my calendula cream and/or at night before bed.
